Feel like a fashion designer while learning how to print your own fabric in these fun ecological screen-printing workshops.
After a quick introduction to everything you need to know about silk screen printing, you will get to print your own design onto fabric, that you will then transform into a unique personalised wearable or accessory.
Step 1: Choose a Product.
At the start of this workshop you will have to decide what final product you want to make with your screen printed fabric.
Available options:
1. Scarf – €45
Choose from the studio’s collection of beautiful scarf fabrics and create your own scarf that will keep you warm and add a unique vibe to your style.
2. Summer Sarong/Pareo Wrap – €55
Made from a beautiful, light, all-natural cotton fabric, this Sarong/Pareo is the perfect accessory for the summer. Bring along your swimwear if you want to match its colour!
3. Cushion Cover – €45
Made from sturdy all-natural cotton fabric, this cushion cover will add uniqueness to your home, or make a one-of-a-kind gift.
Want to make a matching pair? Make a second cushion cover for an additional €15.
4. Cotton Tote – €35
Made from sturdy all-natural cotton fabric, this ready-made tote bag has many uses, be it as a no-more-plastic eco shopping bag, or to carry books, your lunchbox, or other essentials that don’t fit in your handbag. Add a personal touch to make it your own with this screen-printing workshop. Dimensions of bag: 42×38 cm
5. Tablecloth – €40
Add a personal touch to your home, with a unique tablecloth designed by you. Made from durable, all-natural cotton fabric, your personalised tablecloth is durable and machine washable. The dimensions are 150×150 cm (square) but if you have specific measurements for a table, they can be accommodated. Please note that additional cost might occur for larger lengths of fabric.
6. Length of Fabric – €50
If you’re unsure of what you’d like to make with your screen printed fabric, you can always just choose the type of material you prefer, and make it into something at a later stage! The provided fabric is 1×2 meters. Larger lengths are available upon request, but additional cost might occur.
Step 2: Choose Difficulty.
After making the tough decision of what you want to make, this decision will come much easier!
Based on the time required to complete the workshop rather than its actual difficulty, the following two options are available:
1. Print an Existing Design | One day Screen-printing Experience
Choose from a range of existing designs, created by Julie – the studio’s artist, and print your own pattern on your selected fabric. You will also get to choose the colour of your print, and if you wish to match it with something, colour mixing is also an option. If you want to print in more than more colour make sure to allow for extra time.
2. Eco Screen Printing A-Z | Complete Screen-printing Experience
Additional Cost: from €40 | Duration: 10 Hours
Learn how to create your own design on a screen using ecological methods and materials. In this workshop, after a short introduction into silk screen printing, you will learn how to hand paint your design using Lascaux products, and then use the screen to print your design.
A few things to keep in mind
- If you want to accurately ‘colour match’ your prints with an item you already have (e.g. swimwear to a pareo wrap, or curtains to a tablecloth) make sure to bring the item or a sample along with you.
- The studio uses only non-toxic, water-based screen printing inks. However, all items are machine washable and the prints are guaranteed to not wash out, just make sure to not exceed a 40 degree temperature when washing.
